Myth of Odysseas

Myth of Odysseas

The island of Serifos is also called the "island of the Cyclops", since Serifos was the home of these mythical creatures, according to mythology, specifically between Mega Livadi and Koutalas. At this particular point of the island is the Throne and the Cave of Cyclops. It is said that Odysseus was imprisoned there by Cyclops Polyphemus during his journey.Polyphemus sputtered six comrades of Odysseus but Odysseus managed to escape by pinning a wooden trunk in his eye. In his attempt to kill him, Cyclops threw a stone to Odysseus' ship and, as it is said, is the rock island "Mikronissi or Garmpias" southwest of the well-known beach "Kalo Ampeli".
